PARTs, based on site-specific paintings, were handed over to artists Deli Sánchez, Pablo Muñoz (dance), Efraín Callejo (piano) and Fernando Sánchez (trombone / composition). Our cooperation on location resulted in the performative intervention and installation Clothing In - COMMUTABLE at the Vostell Museum, Malpartida (ES).

L'EAUZARD, a performative intervention and installation was created in collaboration with a group of residents from Coaraze (F). In advance local musicians had composed an experimental piece of music on the theme of the village´s landmarks: the lizard and the water. The development of paintings and corresponding painting objects (PARTs) in the studio took place simultaneously. On site, the eleven participants aged between 28 and 81 spent several days exploring their movement experience with the PARTs in workshops. From the exchange of subjective impressions when „wearing this second skin“, a spatial situation evolved, accompanied by temporary „living sculptures“ and eventually merging to a danced choreography. In 2023 an ongoing collaboration started with the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in Ireland. During two intensive weeks dancers and choreographers of the MA contemporary dance created a performative intervention in the Foyer of the BERNAL, a Scientific Research Centre at the University of Limerick. The piece was based on their experience of improvising with the PARTs I had developed for this occasion.

..Michaela Zimmer shows with her PARTs hybrids of paintings and objects which are both solid and malleable. They become part of the space while also creating dissonance or disruption. There will be a performance by Kirstin Burckhardt at the exhibition opening when she will interact with Michaela Zimmer’s PARTs, appropriating, and embodying them. In doing so, she produces sounds and thus incorporates a further sensory level. (Auszug Text: Anna Lena Wenzel). In her review on On GOING (PlatformA Gallery, Middlesbrough, 2022) Anika Reineke writes: "Stretcher frames and wheels, movement and liminality, dance and boilersuits: in ON GOING, materials and techniques from all stages of Zimmer´s career are merging. Like a remix, the works inscribe themselves into each other, develop each other further and open up trains of thought: how does movement coming from within us influence the full-body suit made out of skin, fabric, space and environment that surrounds us every day?" A wall sized mirror in the exhibition space is covered with coloured silkscreen and plotter foil, turning it into a projection screen for all kind of activities. Not only is movement (of the visitors) reflected in it, but the greenish light also captures the works of the exhibition in an "image". The aspect of "connecting" also corresponded to my role as co-organizer of the group exhibition (together with Benedikt Terwiel). Front: Andrea Winkler Vest (Hi-Vis)

In each exhibition context the painted foil gets newly modelled. According to its self-adhesive surface this sculptural process is taking place directly on the wall.

After regular training, the ability to perceive stimuli and reactions of the muscles, tendons, and joints evolves and is incorporated into notations. Two to three sheets are created every day, which are analysed, summarized, and translated at regular intervals. A new alphabet, generated from the pictorial vocabulary of abstract signs, is transferred to different material functioning as image carrier.

Perpetual Movement marked the 90th anniversary Rambert, the British National Contemporary Dance Organisation. Visual notations of physical movement and their transmission into works of art had become the key issue of a three-year interdisciplinary research project with Rambert. I deliberately focused on the aspect of body resonance and the question on how movement can be recorded in ways not related to numerical systems. Exhibitions were conceived in such a way that they simultaneously offered space for performances, while subsequently existing as an independent exhibition without performers.
